| Synopsis: |
This title is part of a series dedicated to advanced composite materials research, development and usage in the former Soviet Union. Much of the information presented has been classified until recently. This volume concerns the design philosophy and methodology used to produce primary and secondary load bearing composite structures with high life expectancies. It presents extensive advanced composites research and development programmes in aircraft and spacecraft applications, including the space orbital ship "BURAN". The work also examines how this material can be applied to other market sectors, such as automotive, shipbuilding and sporting goods. The book describes typical structures for which composites may be used in aerospace design and some of the basic requirements for the materials used. It discusses design of components with composite materials, with reference to case studies, and then evaluates finished structures and components, methods of joining with conventional materials, non-destructive testing methods and forecasting the performance of both the composite materials and the structures which they form. |

The Secret Life of Evie Hamilton
Evie Hamilton is the wife of Ant and mother of Anna, and her biggest worry in life is whether or not she can fit a manicure in on her way to fetch Anna from clarinet lessons. She doesn't think about much else outside her own, charmed circle. There simply isn't time. But all that is about to change.

Home
Julie Andrews has never before revealed the true story of her childhood and upbringing. In HOME she vividly recreates the years before the movies. The family moved to London, and there are vivid scenes of life during the Blitz. Her stepfather encouraged her to have singing lessons. By the time she was a teenager, she was supporting her whole family with her singing. A London Palladium pantomime led to a leading role in THE BOYFRIEND on Broadway at 19. Parts in MY FAIR LADY opposite Rex Harrison and CAMELOT with Richard Burton soon followed. HOME is an honest, touching and revealing memoir of the early life of a true icon.
